THE STORY BENDER

Meet The Story Bender
I’ve always believed that stories shape the way we see the world. The ones we tell ourselves. The ones we grow up hearing. The ones we never forget.

My journey as a filmmaker began with a simple realization: stories have power. They can move people, shift perspectives, and sometimes, even change lives. That belief led me to create After the Waters, my directorial debut—a film that didn’t just document the devastation of flooding in Nigeria but helped mobilize support for other victims. That moment reiterated to me that filmmaking was more than just an art form; it was a tool for advocacy, for justice, for change.

In the years since, I’ve built a body of work that reflects that purpose—directing documentaries and commercial projects that spark conversations and make an impact. Through The Story Bender’s Lab, I’ve had the privilege of shaping narratives that matter.

One of my most recent films, No Way Home, is a deeply personal documentary exploring brain drain and emigration—why people leave, what they leave behind, and what it means for those who stay. It was produced as part of the Documentary Film Fellowship by the French Embassy in Nigeria and StoryMi Academy, an experience that not only sharpened my craft but also expanded my reach.

My work has travelled from Lagos to Paris, Abuja to Biarritz. I’ve directed documentaries for global organizations, won awards like the EU SGBV Film Contest and the 2022 Tecno Camon Film Contest, and participated in industry-leading fellowships. But at the core of it all, I’m just someone who believes that stories—when told right—can change the way we see each other, and maybe even the world.
